We are invited by Workshops Incorporated or W Inc. as they fondly called by the workforce, to do a little piece on The Yard Sale. Since we are procrastinating severely on other responsibilities, CIA prep included, we decide to give them their fifteen minutes of fame on the Malhar Blog.

This year The Yard Sale takes place on 12th July, less than a week for you guys to donate and then buy some cool stuff – all in the name of charity! As we walk into the galleries, where W Inc. will be found for the next few weeks, we see their volunteers chatting with workforce members who are cheerfully donating their stuff for the Yard Sale.

This year though, the Yard Sale is a pan-departmental affair, unlike previous years when W Inc. handled it solely on its own. Organisers from every department will be present on the 12th, in shifts so that the entire workforce comes together to make this happen. And there’s so much stuff to be bought!

So here’s how the yard sale works:

You donate the stuff that you have and aren’t going to use or can’t anymore. From books, to jewellery, crockery, wall hangings, accessories – donate it all to W Inc.

Everything you donate will be sold on Sunday, the 12th at St. Peter’s Church, Bandra. And here’s the best part: You can go and check out the things that are being sold too – one man’s trash, is another man’s treasure!

But some are probably fossils by now. So donate wisely.

So after that quick lesson on the condition of the items we can donate, they finally give us some excellent news: FREE NUTELLA FOR EVERYONE WHO COMES –

OG Shimona, please remember: Sharing is Caring.

So we were baited with promises of Nutella – OG Shimona was just posing with this – they only have a quarter of that bottle left. But since they promise to share after interview is done, we hang around and find out some more.

Ha, they give us the actual good news: THE YARD SALE TWITTER CONTEST.

For all those on twitter, using those 140 characters will never have been so rewarding – literally! There will be a twitter contest held soon with questions about Xavier’s, Malhar and other generic stuff which can help you win some amazing Yard Sale goodies! So, before everything is sold – follow @Malhar2015 on Twitter and get yourself some FREE goodies from the Yard Sale!

We go and have a look at some of the things people have donated and we find OG Anisha cataloguing everything that’s come in so far. After a bit though, we grow bored of her clicking pictures and writing them down.

We ask about the money Workshops Incorporated is going to make from the Yard Sale – we assume it’s going to be a green heaven for them soon and we tell him as much – and they laugh in our faces.

It’s for charity, they patiently explain. All proceeds from the Yard Sale go towards Pehchaan, an NGO that serves the homeless citizens by offering them legal aid and shelter. W Inc. is spearheading the Yard Sale, and is working with the entire Malhar workforce to make this a grand success.

Meanwhile, all that we’ve done today includes picking up last week’s notes from the photocopy centre.

We decide to re-evaluate and promise to go home and hunt for stuff that can be donated to W Inc.

As we leave the galleries, Workshops Inc. also mentions in passing that exclusive and original Malhar Souvenirs will be sold during the Yard Sale! You could pick up some pretty earrings, bracelets and stationery among a vast array of items on Sunday, July 12th at St. Peter’s Church, Bandra.

We’re gonna be there, are you?

Donate today, buy on Sunday.
